Is Seller Fulfilled Prime Worth It?

Seller Fulfilled Prime (SFP) allows Amazon sellers to display the Prime badge on their listings while fulfilling orders from their own warehouse or 3PL — rather than using Amazon's FBA service. For the right business, SFP unlocks Prime traffic and conversion rates at better economics than FBA. But the qualification requirements are demanding, and not every business is suited to the programme.

What SFP Offers

The Prime badge is Amazon's most powerful conversion driver. Prime-eligible listings convert at significantly higher rates than non-Prime equivalents in the same category. For sellers who have been locked out of Prime benefits due to FBA costs, product restrictions, or packaging requirements, SFP provides a route to Prime visibility while retaining control over fulfilment.

The Requirements

Amazon's SFP requirements are stringent by design. You must: deliver to UK Prime customers by the next day (or same day in some categories), maintain a cancellation rate below 0.5%, maintain a valid tracking rate above 99%, and dispatch on Amazon's required shipping days including weekends for Prime orders. These are not soft targets — missing them results in SFP suspension.

Weekend Dispatch: The Key Operational Challenge

The most common SFP failure point is weekend dispatch. Prime customers expect Prime delivery on orders placed on Saturday and Sunday. This means your 3PL must operate on Saturdays (and in some cases Sundays) and dispatch Prime orders on those days. Many fulfilment centres don't run full operations at weekends, which disqualifies them for SFP use.

When SFP Makes Sense

SFP is most compelling when: your products are well-suited to 3PL fulfilment but not FBA (large, heavy, or fragile items); your FBA fees are disproportionately high relative to your selling price; you want Prime eligibility for multi-channel products without splitting inventory between FBA and a 3PL; or you want full packaging control (branded boxes, inserts) that FBA doesn't allow.
